Celgene Australia

Celgene was established in Australia in 2006. The staff at Celgene Australia combines worldwide Haematology/Oncology experience with significant local market knowledge to achieve their commitment to introducing breakthrough medical solutions to Australian patients.

The senior management team include:

George Varkanis, Vice President, Asia Pacific
George has many years of pharmaceutical industry experience through numerous senior commercial roles predominantly and most recently with Pharmacia Corporation based in Europe and the worldwide headquarters in the United States. With significant international experience in Oncology, he returned to Australia several years ago and helped establish Celgene Australia in March 2006.

Albert Spanos, General Manager
Albert comes to Celgene with 20 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. In this time Albert has held numerous Sales and Marketing roles for organizations including Pharmacia and Pfizer across many Therapeutic areas. Albert has over ten years Senior Management experience in Haematology and Oncology.

Kaylene O’Shea, Director Scientific Affairs
Kaylene joined Celgene in 2007 as Director of Scientific Affairs for Australia and New Zealand. Over the 20 years that Kaylene has worked in the pharmaceutical industry, she has held senior management roles in companies such as Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb and CSL. Her principal area of expertise resides in the clinical, regulatory and medical affairs areas.

Darren Hunt, Finance Administration Manager
Darren commenced with Celgene as Finance Manager in September 2007. He has seven years experience as a Financial Controller in various industries. Prior to this, he has 10 years accounting most recently in the agricultural field at Plant Tech Pty Ltd, a division of Elders Ltd. He has significant experience in accounting taxation and inventory management.
